Steve Sandman – Agency Owner and Principal. Steve earned his BS degree from Iowa State University in Agricultural Education. He taught vocational agriculture and was the FFA advisor in Hudson Iowa and then in Oconomowoc Wisconsin. He has extensive experience in agricultural marketing after working at the Chicago Board of Trade from 1981 to 1996. Steve worked as a floor manager, account executive, and corn trader with Staley Commodities, Refco, and Griffin Trading. Steve and family live in Geneva, Illinois.

Lorrie Adams – Lorrie Adams was born and raised on a farm in Winnebago, Illinois. After finishing college to study criminal justice, she served proudly as a police officer for over eight years. Her career path changed towards the insurance industry where she began selling property and casualty policies. She later directed her sites on crop insurance and was eager to join Harvest Risk Management in 2006. Lorrie continues to work with producers as she truly believes that crop insurance is the most valuable risk management tool to insure against losses.

Greg Boruff – Greg grew up on a farm south of Moline Illinois and is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BS degree in Farm Operations. Greg worked as an agricultural lender with Production Credit for 2 years directly out of school. He has since created a niche in the agricultural marketing area and owns his own firm; Midland Commodities Group located in Reynolds, Illinois. He and his family lives and farms in Rock Island County, Illinois.

Jeff Calvert – Jeff grew up on a small grain and livestock farm in Bureau County, Illinois, then earned an MS degree from the University of Illinois in Agricultural Economics. He worked for the Farm Credit System for 22 years, starting in New York City for the system’s funding office. From there, he was Director of Financial Planning at the Farm Credit Bank of St. Louis and Assistant Treasurer for the Farm Credit Bank of Spokane. In 1995, Jeff and his family moved to Geneva, Illinois, to start up the financially related services arm of the local Farm Credit Services. Farm Credit’s crop insurance sales grew from $100,000 in premium to $12 million under Jeff’s leadership. Jeff brought his vast experience in helping farmers with financial solutions and managing risk to Harvest Risk Management in 2007.

Gary Dean – Gary is originally from Ohio where he grew up on the family farm. In the early 1980’s Gary left for Chicago and started work at the Chicago Board of Trade. Gary developed into one of the premier marketing consultants of the day. He formed his own firm, Deanfield Consulting and was respected throughout the industry. Gary is our “big picture” guy who has an unbelievable ability to see and plan for the future in a trendsetting way. Gary lives and farms outside of Baring Missouri.

Craig Johnson – Craig grew up on a farm in Franklin County, Iowa. He is a graduate of Iowa State University with a BS Degree in Agricultural Business. After college, he worked three years as a crop salesman for Cedar Valley FS. In 1991 Craig returned to Franklin County to his family farm. Since 1993, he has been active in selling seed. He is currently selling with AgVenture ProfiSeed. Craig’s interest in crop production lead him to become certified as a crop specialist in the state of Iowa. Craig and his wife live in Latimer, Iowa with their four children.

Pat Hunt – Pat grew up on a farm in eastern Iowa and is a graduate of Iowa State University with his BS degree in Agricultural Business. Pat’s expertise is in Ag Finance and has worked in the banking industry for 25 years in eastern Iowa. Pat is an expert in the financial arena and is able to link crop insurance to the financial aspect of the business like no other. Pat started with Harvest Risk Management in the 2005 crop year and resides in Bettendorf, Iowa.

Mike Pitstick – Mike has been with Sandman Insurance since 1997 as a policyholder and as a crop insurance specialist since 2003. Mike brings vast experience from the production side of agriculture. Mike farms cropland in Kane and Dekalb County, Illinois. Mike has managed a Pioneer Seed dealership and has done extensive consulting work for the Elburn Coop. Mike is an expert in realizing the potential of crop insurance and what it can do for the farmer. Mike and his family reside in Sugar Grove, Illinois and has his office in Kaneville, IL.

Lee Schaefer – Lee is a native of Mason City, Iowa and attended Iowa State University majoring in Public Service and Administration in Agriculture. Since 1988 Lee has been employed by ProfiSeed of Hampton, Iowa serving as General Manager, Soybean Production Manager and District Sales Manager. When Ag Venture purchased ProfitSeed in 2000, Lee continued his career with Ag Venture as Soybean Production Manager and District Sales in Franklin County. Father of two daughters, Lee and his wife Jill reside in Latimer, Iowa.
